Ipod touch doesnt work with mixdeck
ipod touch 4th generation wont play on numark mixdeck. it says that the accessory is not supported by ipod touch. How do i fix that?

1Hello, sorry for the trouble.
Unfortunately due to changes to the iPod touch design by Apple the iPod touch Gen 4 does not support the Mixdeck. You may want to contact them to see if there are any work arounds available.
It is possible to bypass this by jailbreaking however we do not recommend or endorse it. -
-
-
-
Ah, shouldn't it be the other way around? When Nuwmark sells a product that is advertised to take the iPod, shouldn't it do exactly that! It is the Mixdeck that should be compatible with the iPod, or Numark should put a note on the Mixdeck box advising it does not actually work with the latest version of iPod. If they had done that, I would not have bought one last week and spent most of yesterday trying to get it to work! What a cop-out answer.

1Try reverting back an OS, I did this with my 3rd gen and its all good. Don't have my touch on me so I can't tell you what version exactly.
Just an idea
Huey-
Good idea. If Numark doesn't come up with a patch then I sense this may be my only option, other than going with another type / brand, or purchasing an old iPod second hand. Thanks.

Hi Brian,
We have a full chart on each box showing the models supported.
We work closely with apple as part of their accessory program. They spend several months Unfortunately some times apple makes changes to their designs to include new features or remove older features. We only fully support the models listed on each products chart. Sorry for any confusion.-
WHAT A COP OUT!

-
MOST WILL ASSUME THAT THE BOX WAS MADE EARLYER THAN THE NEW IPOD. AND ALSO ASSUME THAT THERE NEW IPOD WILL WORK IT SHOULD BE THE JOB OF THE EMPLOYES SELLING THIS PRODUCT TO WARN PEOPLE OF THIS ISSUE. I BOUGHT MY MIXDECK UNDER THE BELIEF THAT I COULD RECORD TO MY IPOD AS MANY OTHERS HAVE. MAKE US AN APP OR SUMTHING! I CAN SEE YOU JUST SITTING THERE ON YOUR ASS I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER NUMARK OR APPLE PRODUCT AGAIN IF THERES NOTHING DONE ABOUT THIS SOON! QUIT SHIFTING THE BLAME AND GET TOGETHER APPLE AND NUMARK! AND MAKE A SOLUTION AND I WILL LOVE YOU AGAIN!

Well, well. I just checked the box. Sure enough, ON THE BOTTOM of the box it specifies iPod models, but not on the top or four sides of the box, which is where everyone looks for information. It just states "iPod" and makes no reference to critical technical information located on the bottom of the box.
Could you point me to the area of your website that identifies incompatible iPod models? I can't find it online.
Numark needs to get a patch out for this. I telephoned the manager of the store where we bought it and he offered a full refund upon return of the unit, but I would prefer to keep it with a software upgrade. -
-
this isnt a numark issue, its technology in general. a unit that was designed and sold prior to another unit cant be expected to work in all situations.
its the same thing with printers and drivers; its not Lexmarks fault that their 6 year old machines dont have windows 7 drivers.- view 1 more comment

Unfortunately the issue is largely related to iOS firmware.
We cannot issue a patch for Apple software. I will however pass this issue onto the engineers and Apple. -

I bought the mixdeck a year ago and now April 2012 i bought a iphone 4s as i am a working working entertainer dj, but found that the iphone 4s will not work with mixdeck, i spent over £1200 for these as i wanted to work with the audio for my djing but the mixdeck is great but if i knew this didnt work with mixdeck i would never buy a iphone, even SIRI doesn,t work in the united kingdom, stop the passing the blame, update the firmware for ios or people will go elsewhere ie Blackberry or android. Come on Numark and Apple get yr heads together and sort it otherwise you will lose customers FACT.

Bought a MixDeck two days ago, but it is not compatible with my new iPod Touch. The sound won't play through the MixDeck. I tried my old (thumbwheel) iPod and it worked fine. Does anyone know where I can get a software patch for this, along with instructions on how to install the patch?
This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled
MixDeck Won't Work With iPod Touch. -

Hello good day.
I wonder if they have any solution for this problem, because I spend the same. my opinion is the following
I think it's problem because it does not specify Numark iPod supports.
Two days ago, buy a numark mixdeck, look everywhere on the Numark website that supports the mixdeck Ipod that I have a Ipod 4G and just found that is compatible with iPod, by the images I saw, I gathered that is also compatible with iPod 4G, but what was my surprise that putting the iPod 4G MixDecck unfolds in a message saying that the device (Numark MixDeck) does not support the iPod Touch.
unfortunately came to give this post after having bought the mixdeck and having met with deception. -
-
Hello, I have reviewed our website and I do not see it mentioned perhaps it was on a dealers website could you send me a link so this could be corrected. Sorry for the confusion.
-
-
I may not understand, what I write is that it is unclear that the image showing the MixDeck, i can see is an iPod touch. on this link http://www.numark.com/mixdeck
in the FAQ section reads.
How do I record to my iPod or iPhone?
If you are using iPhone or iPod Touch, you can use the built-in Voice Memo app, or virtually any other audio recording app. With other docking iPod models, simply activate memo record.
Regards.. -
-
Hello,
We support generations 1-3 of the iPod touch.
Sorry for any confusion. This is also listed on the comparability chart on the product. -
-
this is crap worked before now it doesnt. all i want to do is record throught the ipod dock not asking much if i was to jailbreak what patch would i look for?
mrceo85@gmail.com-
Hello, unfortunately i think at some point apple removed required code from their iOS updates. Jail breaking while not condoned seems to reverse this issue.

I've jailbroke mine (tethered) and still it wont work?!?!
I feel cheated!-
Hi lewgi,
Not sure what method you have used, we have heard from several users that this had resolved the issue for them. -

I used redsn0w and was told it was a tethered jailbreak so I've booted up the pod using this method but still no joy :(

I've allways championed Numark products and own lots of Numark equipment...Decks,mixers,studio speakers ect...
I bought this 2channel mixer basicly just for its iPod connectivity and I'm gutted just because I have a 4th gen iPod it wont work!!
If you look on www.htfr.com it clearly states that it will work?
I'm not gonna return it just yet as I'm expecting some more Numark decks to accompany this mixer....but without iPod support I'm going to be very weary before buying Numark again :-(- view 3 more comments

Sadly we really want to make this work for all users. Ultimately we strive to make fantastic products people can love and enjoy. This change affects a wide range of Apple products and may be reversed in iOS5. However we are not sure. Unfortunately we are limited in what we can do as the issue its self is within the iPods software. We work hard with apple to ensure that our products meet their requirements and standards.
However Apple reserves the right to change these standards when releasing new products. Products released before a new model unfortunately can be left im limbo.
We are continuing to raise this issue with Apple. -
-
Thanks for the reply:-) I understand now.
Maybe Numark could bring out a similar product to the ipod and put a dent in Apples dominance ;-)

I too have been fooled into getting a Mixdeck thinking it would work with my iPod. Funny thing, I've tried my iPod touch 4th gen in several other docking station things that are several years old and it works in them - just NOT the Mixdeck.
Why Numark doesn't put out an update that can be downloaded is beyond me. I mean Numark is good at making new products with new features, but HORRIBLE at supporting the products they do release.
Come on NUMARK! As you can see, your customers want the Mixdeck to work with iPod Touch 4th gen - now what are you going to do about it? -
-
My Ipod touch works perfectly. If you can try going back to Version 4.3.3 (8J2). When I updated the OS on it, it didnt work anymore so since I only use it to record I just went back to that version and its all good..........
Hope that helps someone......... -
-
i really hope iOS5 will solve the problem... if it's the case, could someone please make us a sign here ?
-
-
Me too if io5 doesn't fix it I'll chuck all my Newmark gear in the skip! And go for Korg products Kaoss pad mixers ect :-)
-
-
How can you guys sit here and blame Numark?? The Mixdeck was out before those other ipods. What are they suppose to do.......recall all Mixdecks everytime a new ipod comes out, get real. It's stated all over the internet that it only worked up to the 3rd gen, anything after that didn't work. Yall really should research alittle more before jumping into things...........yell at Apple.
-
THEN DONT MARKET YOUR PRODUCTS TO IMPULSE BUYERS!
-
-
And this is Numark's fault that the "Impulse Buyer" did not Research The Product before buying it. I Think NOT! Thank God for the Internet & Google. Now Use them...
-
-
-
-
-
Numark is to blame! They are the ones that didn't clearly identify which gen. ipods were actually functional. They are also the ones responsible to make a software update that could enable the mixdeck to work more cohesively with the newer ipods.
I'm definitely upset that there hasn't been a solution made up to this point.-
Hello, the chart is actually provided by Apple for our packaging.
We cannot update the iPod as this is not our product. We deeply sympathize with users and would love to support these models however we are unable to do so with the new designs of iPod. -
-
-
-
-
Ios5 doesn't sort it either.... F.U Newmark!
Just hope someone on eBay will buy them!
But I will have the decency to state that they will not work with 'new' iPods.-
Sorry for the frustration however as mentioned this is unfortunately an issue out of our control.
-
-
I've an iPod dock/soundbar that works with the 3rd &4th gen and every os update from apple with no problems whatsoever! I have a cheap car iPod/iPhone dock/cradle that has had no problems and its 3yrs old!
There's an old small 2w speaker thing in the studio that works with every update ect... -

Kids, this is the "information age" we have to ability to look into things thoroughly before we purchase. Any claims that there is someone to blame is just silly. So you bought something that doesn't work how you would have wanted, then take it back. Simple.
Numark must have the best customer service team I have ever seen in my 16 years of being involved in DJ culture. They are easy to find on Twitter and Facebook, and answer questions faster than greased lightning.
Calm down, take a deep breath, ask a few questions, get the right answers, and get the gear you want/need.
If you think anyone can influence decisions made at Cupertino, then you are kidding yourself.
As is often the case, most people in DJing want to at least give the appearance of being experienced. When you throw a fit about incompatibility, you show all too well, your newness and Lack of experience.
Incompatibility is nothing new. Those us of who have been around for the entirety of the digital age have seen it over and over again, we expect it, and we work around it. please try and do the same. -
-
Hey superstar DJ
You dont know what your talking about.
I'm 20 + years and several mos contracts into the game!
When somethings called iPod mixer it should be an Ipod mixer not bound by iPod models/software versions....Why dont numark state that they only work with old 3rd gen models instead of fooling it's buyers otherwise! -
-
Right-on Lewgi. Numark needs to stamp right on the top of the box, in reasonably sized letters, that this product is not compatible with the latest generations of the iPod. Until they do that, customers will continue to feel ripped off, and the situation will continue to damage Numark's reputation.

CHAMP
1@Lewgi I suppose i could just copy and paste my original statement here. Since it's almost as if you didn't even read it.
None of this is a "game" to me. I take it seriously, and act accordingly. I do my homework and research, and if I buy the wrong product, I return it and get the correct one.
This doesn't mean you shouldn't air your grievances, you absolutely should. I see changes to equipment and software that I don't like often, but I understand that lashing out at someone or a company won't change anything. I know that is me who needs to change, because I am of course buying from them.
I always have the right to build my own equipment and software if I don't like what they sell. I try not to be so bold as to critique too harshly, someone or a company who is doing something that I am unable to do. I try to remember to put myself in the shoes of the other person before I rush to judge.
Numark is a good company, they make great products, and they have great customer service, but always remember that part of the responsibility for the end result from all this lies with you, the consumer. -
-
I think research is the key. I prefer (as I understood it) that the Mix Deck work with ALL Ipods but it doesn't. I'm not returning it because I will just purchase an older model as part of my required DJ set up.
I think people have a right to be upset with Numark and Numark should make every effort to resolve the issue but this doesn't reflect badly to me on Numark or Apple.
I try my very best to look at customer reviews, blogs like this, and any other users I can find before I purchase any products.
Good luck with all parties involved. -
-
I too am looking at getting an old iPod just for the Mixdeck. Funny thing - no where can you find on Numark's web page what versions of iPod will work with Mixdeck. I would have thought they would have at least listed it on the Mixdeck page so more people don't buy them thinking it will work with their new iPod / iPhone.
Why doesn't Numark put something on the page to inform buyers that the dock will only work with iPod version ___?
Now to climb into the attic and find that box so I can get me an old iPod on Craigslist or something. -
-
I'm sure a fix will come along in the future, yes I am a bit disappointed that my 4th Gen iPod won't work with my mixdeck but I don't feel we should be blaming numark or apple.
-
-
good point! but there should be a solution for this problem. i, like many others bought the mixdeck in hopes that it would do as it says. it dosnt!
-
-
i think yhe only way around it for now is too= booth out from rca to headphone jack into your laptops mic line and record onto laptop. try that!
-
-
universal is a strong word to use when its so far from the truth! am i rong?
-
-
Do anyone have an answer if the ioS5 is compatible with numark??
-
-
The ios5 is not compatible, it sucks big c...!! Get your act together and fix this problem. It can ́t be Apple or any other companies responsibility to make/keep your product compatible. That sounds like horse ass to me!
-
-
Hugely disappointing that after one year nothing has been resolved about this case. I've bought the mixer almost 1 year ago and it didn't work with iPhone 4. It still doesn't. If you say that Apple removed some code why don't you provide a free app along with mixer firmware update to make it work? Is it not worth to invest in fixing already sold mixers? Does not Numark know the rules of the market? Unhappy customer will never buy anything from the company that let him down in 9/10 cases. Not mentioning other people that come to me saying - Wow, you have an iPhone dock in your mixer? - Yes, but it does not work with newer devices, and Numark has not provided any fix for it, even though it is new stuff (you still have it in NEW STUFF).
-
-
same problem with my iphone 4 on the mixdeck! theres a patch now?
-
-
-
ok so first off has a fix been found yet? and 2nd since this is compaitable with so many other options is the ipod option that doesnt work for the gen 4 touches really a huge deal? I ask because I am looking into getting the mixdeck but i have only a gen4 touch ipod and its my means of music so if not being able to use it is a big deal I wont waste my time or money on the mixdeck........
-
-
wallb35,
bad news....the 'universal' iPod dock DOES NOT work with iPod Touch 4th generation. That is the same that I have with non-working results. If your iPod touch 4 is your souce of music, I'd say keep looking as they DO NOT play well together. It appears Numark has moved on to other new products and not interested in making the Mixdeck work with iPod touch 4 / iPhone 4 etc.-
Alright well thank you ...on a side note besides the 4thgen iPod issue is it a good piece of equipment to purchase?

I have had my Numark iM1 Mixdeck for nearly TWO YEARS and it worked fine with my iPod, which unfortunately was stolen. The iPod Touch I replaced it with obviously doesn't work to record my mixes. I can't return the Mixdeck as I've had it for so long. What am I supposed to do? I don't own a laptop. Really annoyed.

I have been looking at getting the iCDMix3 for a few months now, but based on this forum and the fact that the dock will not support the iPhone i shall not be purchasing.
Thanks for the advise guy's such a shame so many people have been misled with the product details.
Dealers are also oblivious to the issues, I have asked a few and they have all said 'it should work with the iPhone'
My questions were simple:
Does the iPhone work in the Docking Bay
Does the iPhone charge when docked
This is a key selling point of the unit, so i guess the iCDmix3 is a redundant product as it can't support the main thing it is sold for. -

yes my 4th gen ipod touch dose charge on the mixdeck. one time i got it to play the sound through the deck. but havent been able to get that to work again. i wunder if theres a way to trick it into working for recording.

my 4th gen iPod won't work but my 3rd gen works (swapped my 4th for a 3rd) :(
gotta say though the icdmix3 is a nice solid piece of kit ...Great for mixing cd's and tunes or effects off the phone and it is the only numark mixer I own that works with my iPhone 4 my other mixdecks will only work with older generations :( -

Apple have an universal ipod dock to ipod touch 4 gen adapter perhaps it works with mixdeck dock.I can't probe this now but somebody may probe it and tell us if the problem is resolved.

Has anyone notified Apple about this? I don't have an iPod, but there's always the possibility of someone handing me an iPod at a party and saying "Here, play something off here for me" Granted I could just connect it via Aux cable... but why the iPod dock if it doesn't work?
-
-
We bought this mix deck for our 12yr son's last b'day with the intention of getting him an ipod to go with it at a slightly later date. We did our research and purchased off the internet, happy to spend the extra money getting the one that goes with the ipods as we felt that it would provide many years use (being only 12yrs he only has a few cd's). Now several months later he has an ipod and we find that it doesn't work with the decks. Obviously we cannot return the decks as they are used so we find we are stuck with several hundred pounds worth of useless dj decks and have a very disappointed son.
-
Liz, you can always connect the mixdeck up to the PC and use the software, or put the songs on a flash drive. I wouldn't go so far as calling it useless.
-

Bit of confusion we purchased a iCD DJ IN A BOX the iM 1 mixer does not work with I pod touch 4 either!!

UPDATE - there are two workarounds: Buy an older iPod off eBay and use that to record your mixes OR get the plugs that go from the Mixdeck to a laptop (mine were around £20 and come with downloadable software). The benefit of the latter option is obviously the cost but also you can record in STEREO - something you could never do with an iPod/iPhone anyway, thanks for nothing Apple. Here's a link to the product I use: http://www.behringer.com/EN/Products/...
I still use my iPod Touch through the Mixdeck to listen to the usual - not being able to record on it doesn't make the Mixdeck entirely redundant. -
-
-
In addition to Liz above I find it very frustrating that the i-M1 mixer does not work with the Ipod touch 4 yet a £15 docking station does!! What is so complicated with the internals of the i-M1 that I cannot get the sound out via the dock. not bothered about recording sets just yet. Any chance of a wiring diagram someone??
-
-
Ok done some digging on old johnny inter web. The I-pod touch 4g I phone4 etc do not have line level inputs all sound in has to be by usb so recording is out unless numark want to make an adaptor it wont work to record. it also seems that to get audio out might be a change of resistor value, so that the ipod etc recognises the dock.
any good geeks know how to do this -
-
Hi Everyone, I bought the numark mixdeck 2 years ago from a retailer had a few issues with faulty products, got the mixdeck changed, i use the midi side of the mixdeck with laptop and serato dj software but my main focal point in buying the mixdeck was the docking station, so this year i bought a iphone 4s got the phone docked it to my mixdeck cued a song pressed play on the mixdeck it started to play but only through the phone, i couldn,t get it to play thru the mixdeck to the amps, played about for more than an hour with no joy, i do not own any ipod, my son has a ipad 3 and i have the iphone 4s, I am very angry that this device is not compatable with my mixdeck, i spend alot of money on numark equipment as i did like the products but fastly growing to dislike them.Apple arent to impressive either, siri doesn,t work in the UK properly. COME ON APPLE AND NUMARK ITS the digital age so the pair of you get this sorted otherwise will start to purchase Denon products etc.
