NS6 is not connecting on El Capitan

i have macbook pro (retina 15" mid 2014 os x el capitan version 10.11.3
processor 2.5ghz intel core 7 memory 16gb 1600 mhz ddr3 graphic intel iris pro 1536 mb and I can't open the ns6 driver for serato dj

    Thanks for the post. As we posted on our El Capitan thread, the NS6 is not officially supported on El Capitan. As we've repeatably posted, we do not recommend updating to OS X 10.11 El Capitan until your product is listed as compatible here on this article. They are working on a driver as we speak.

      Unfortunately for you, your job is to attempt to ensure customers issues are handled effectively, and quality service has been delivered. It does not matter if YOU don't want to repeat YOURSELF. Customers have the right to vent about the lack of a driver, and as long as it is kept tasteful, this forum is a resource to share our concerns.

      It would be useful if we could submit our email addresses so we are notified IF a driver is ever released.

    Thanks for the response, and I appreciate that it must be disheartening for you guys when people vent/moan. At the end of the day all I want to do is use my piece of kit, which i think is great, without having to constantly remind myself not to update my Mac. unfortunately in a moment of madness I accepted the update, and have since spent two days retro installing Yosemite and reloading all of my audio etc.

    My key frustration is that I have seen various comments from Numark saying "we're working on it", and "Very soon", but its 5 Months since the release of El Capitan. The feeling that I get is that the company are just hoping that it will all go away and we will just "live with it". That kind of approach isn't going to cut it i'm afraid, and the more that people get brushed off with "no further information at this time", then the more frustrated and louder people's grumbling will become. What would be great is if someone at Numark gave us an ETA, and a bit of an explanation on what resource is being applied to support their customers. I've bought numerous Numark bits of kit previously, (CD players, analogue mixers plus my NS6), but unfortunately if this isn't resolved then I will "move on". Now, the company may not be particularly bothered if I do, but if every NS6 user begins to feel that way then surely that's got to hurt?

    As I said in my original comment, 5 months to release a driver doesn't give the impression that someone is too bothered about the repercussions of not doing so. Please prove me wrong, and let's have a fix :-)

      Thank you for understanding. We appreciate that. If I was given a time frame, I would definitely post back here but unfortunately I wasn't. The team will not disclose specifics as to what's going on with the driver but they did inform me that there have been man revisions so far. The driver simply hasn't passed its test for full support. They won't post a driver until it's 100% working.

    I recently updated my mac to os x el captain 10.11.1 and ever since my ns6 has not been able to connect to my mac. Every time I open serato a message comes up saying, "failed to connect to midi device." I have the latest version of serato installed and the latest driver (v3 2.0). I have tried all usb ports and have even tried different usb cables, nothing seems to work. Please help.

    STATUS UPDATE

    I have great news for our NS6 users.... we have a driver! As I told you before, the drivers will always be posted on the product page first before I even get the news. Its up there on the NS6 product page as I speak. Its the Mac OSX 10.11 Driver 3.3.7 (Beta) driver. All you El Capitan users can download and try it out with your system. Be aware, it's a BETA driver. It's not an official driver so use it at your own risk. We still don't want existing Yosemite users and below to upgrade to El Capitan yet until the driver becomes official. Give us feedback regarding your experience too.

    well I installed the new NS6 driver on my el capitan 10.11.3, Does it make a difference if I upgrade serato from 1.80 to 1.81 with this new NS6 driver?

    I guess its a beta driver, I didn't realize that till now ... been deejaying using a yosemite partition -a royal pain in the ass to do-

    I'll reverberate the sentiment of other deejays ... El capitan has been out 5 months and still no fix ... sounds like Numark wants deejays to buy new kit/gear instead of keeping their old gear up to date

    Not a great way to build brand loyalty if you ask me ... my first mixer was a Numark mixer back in the late 80s

    I really hate the yosemite partition ... thinking about getting a Pioneed ddi sx2 and never again buying a Numark product!

    Anyone getting this thing to work on the beta software??

      What's happening to your system when you say the driver "doesn't work?

      Make sure that this BETA driver is the only NS6 driver that's installed on your computer. Perform a New Configuration under Audio MIDI Setup to ensure that your NS6 is the only USB device that's is configured in your system.

    after about 20 minutes the song stopped and the audio dropped, i could continue playing off software display but no sound

    I was so happy when the bèta drive was available for my ns6! unfortunately I experience a massive delay using serato. furthermore a short irritating distorted sound Comes repeatedly out of my speakers parallel to the bpm. This happens also if I use traktor (for which I don't fint good mappings). I hope the official certified driver for el capitan Will solve my problems. When is it coming out? I have been waiting for almost half a year now.I am Seriously thinking to buy New gear from another Brand.

  • same here bro, I paid good money for my NS6 back in the day. NNumark doesn't seem to care about brand loyalty. They're too busy putting out new products but not taking care of software updates with old ones! A lot of controllers work fine with el capitan like Pioneer controllers.

    NNumark, you're loosing credibility and loyalty fast!

    I'm having problems too and you said to upgrade to serato 1.81 but you can't even put that on your new driver instructions ... get your act together!

    I might have to go buy a new controller too, I'm tired of having to use a Yosemite partition and go back and forth between partitions all day on my laptop! its getting really old!

Which instructions are you referring to? Myself nor do I recall Numark ever saying that you can't use the latest Beta driver with the latest version of Serato DJ. You certainly can.

      I recommend you call into technical support and have an agent help you out over the phone. Log onto www.numark.com/support to contact Numark technical support.

    Hi All I have had a few issues with my NS6 now with EL Capitan and using the new drivers.
    My setup is as follows
    1 Macbook Pro i7 8Gb ram 2011 running an 500GB SSD and latest version of Apples IOS El- Capitain
    1 1TB External HDD with all the music stored and analysed
    1 NS6
    Serato 1.9.1 (note this issue happened with 1.9.0 as well)
    I boot the laptop no issues connect both the External HDD and the NS6 still no issues
    Run Serato all seems fine at the start I can see the NS6 in the software and play songs BUT after a short time and this is completely random the NS6 just vanishes of the screen music stops I have to reboot re connect and then it might be an hour or even less then it does it again I can find no reason for it it has done it while playing back ground music and without me even being close I have tried other external drives changes the USB cable nothing has fixed it I am about to roll back to Yosimite
    I WARN ALL DO NOT TRUST THESE BETA DRIVERS THEY ARE NOT NOT NOT STABLE.
    Has anyone else had the same issues as me?

  • Hi guys, I found a temporary solution. I use a usb hub as a go between the controller and my macbook pro retina so that serato when it opens recognizes the controller. I hook the controller to the hub then the hub to my mac. I go to sound to make sure that both output and input is the hub and not the controller. Then serato sees my controller. If I want to, I can disconnect the hub connections but don't cutoff the controller. I make a connection between the mac and controller like normal (including going to sound to click numark as output and input) and everything works fine. Hope this helps.

    Well here we are....... Apple about to release MacOS Sierra. So am I meant to keep my music Macbook a whole OS Generation behind?? maybe Numark have jumped ahead of the game, and have done a driver for Sierra, and are about to make my day by saying, "hey, go ahead and update to Sierra, your NS6 will work great, as we've tested it and have a full driver available" Why am i not convinced that is going to be there response i wonder............... Last chance Numark, or I'm off to panasonic and will never be back

  • Its now over a year since el capitan was released and still no support for the NS6 ... I have a yosemite partition on my mac book pro over this, I doubt they will ever get a driver that works on older products because they want to sell new products and only lie and pay lip service that they care about providing support for older products ... its a bunch of BS if you ask me! I'll never again buy a Numark product, they are a bunch of liars and thieves!

  • Hey guys.. I have an NS6 and have been having troubles off and on ever since I've downloaded El Captain. Cynthia is right, I've purchases a USB hub 3.0 and connected one end to my Mac Air and the other end to my NS6, and it's working fine. This is a temporary solution. Thanks Cynthia!
