I'm experiencing USB dropouts with my NS6

OK , I was running my MBPro in 10.8 and had no issues but I since upgraded to Sierra and made sure I had the latest firmware update for NS6. It ran fine for about two weeks and then out of the blue the following:

after about 30 mins stop / start keys become unresponsive on the NS6
It will let me load songs on to the empty deck but thats it.

I can lower all the volumes on the NS6 and the desk playing will still play.

The MBPro does not crash as I have the mouse arrow but cannot exit out of Serato.

I have been trying to duplicate this for 10 hours as I have my gear home and I cannot.

So far I have done the following:

found a few corrupted tracks in my library and deleted.
Made sure Bluetooth, auto dimming and any other feature that know about is off.

Is there something else I can do? as I need to clear this u before the weekend

  • Hello,

    Thanks for posting.

Yes, based on the symptoms you've described, it sounds like you're experiencing USB dropouts. Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the driver from the product page? As simple as this sounds, this can usually clear up a lot of issues that you might be experiencing, including USB dropouts. I would also suggest trying another USB cable.

Check out this helpful article from Serato's support page that will walk you through troubleshooting USB dropouts on your Mac - Troubleshoot USB dropouts / audio glitches (Mac)

I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any additional questions.

  • I will uninstall and re install the drivers. Are there higher quality USB cables ( meaning the cable from the NS6 with the USB end?

    Also!

I see the driver dmg in my downloads folder where is the driver I need to delete?

Last, should my Serato folder be on my desktop or in applications. Reason I ask is I had a friend looking thru my laptop and I do not remember seeing the serato folder on the desktop.

    plz advize R

  • You can use any standard USB A to B cable with your NS6.

The .dmg file is just the installer for the driver. Your driver will be located in the following directory on the Mac platform: Macintosh HD > Library > Audio > MIDI Drivers. Drag the .plugin file to your Trash and empty the trash to fully uninstall.

Your _Serato_ folder should be located in your local Music folder. I've included the following guide below, which you may find helpful:
